So I guess it’s time to start blogging! And what perfect timing since yesterday I completed my first 4 miler! It was my first time running 4 miles without stopping, let alone in a race. So I placed 921 out of 1011 but who cares? I finished and I’m so happy about it! I had planned to train better/ more but I wasn’t able to, so I didn’t finish with the best time for myself. The people who won the race were all Kenyan and Ethiopian. I guess they do circuits around the Northeast to win the prize money. One of the “elite” women asked if she could cut me in line for the portapotties. I had been waiting for about 20 minutes and the race was about to start. I knew she was one of the elites but my thought was that she’s going to finish this race in 20 minutes… it’s gonna be an hour before I have another chance to go!! Luckily she went away before I could answer.
My Uncle Mark and his wife Sandra came in from out-of-town in time to see me start and finish (and snap a couple of pictures along the way). It’s so nice to have some love and happiness around here. I’ve been a big ball of negativity lately and it’s nice to have some family time to unwind and smile. We went out for dinner at Coles on Elmwood after the race. I was the only one who had a good meal I guess but MAN was it good! I got the “Huey Louie Andouille” Burger. It was spicy and yummy and just amazing. I also had 2 glasses of beer which I had said I wasn’t going to drink for the next month but I was celebrating so I’m excused.
The next few hours/days will be dedicated to tweeking the blog and determining how it should go… so there will be changes. If you actually read this… Thanks!
